Waitin' for the Sun to Go Down (Mishler) Waitin' ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... down on freedom Yea they're waitin' ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... down on justice Let's talk about the American flag. It's not just a red-white-and-blue ra-a-ag Where there's chaos and fear, It ought to mean that the good guys are here But they're waitin' for the sun go down ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... on our sense of humanity Yea they're waitin' ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... on the rule of law Those terrorism boys are so bad: We've betrayed every value we had. Only the darkest intentions Forsake Geneva's Conventions But they're waitin' for the sun go down ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... down on equality Yea they're waitin' ... waitin' for the sun to go down ... Waitin' for the curtain to fall ... on our grand experiment They say if we get hit one more time, Our Bill of Rights won't be worth a di-i-ime This freedom-lovin' fool disagrees. That blessed piece o' paper's all that keeps us free Still they're waitin' ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... down on compassion Yea they're waitin' ... waitin' for the sun to go down ... Waitin' for the hunger for war ... to devour God's abundance of peace They think endless war makes people free, But forced occupation isn't liberty Enhanced interrogation ... Disgraces our nation And they're waitin' for the sun go down ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... down on privacy Yea they're waitin' ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... on the pursuit of happiness They violate judicial review Ignore the FISA law protecting me and you-ou-ou In secret, what really happened? Whose thoughts were they tapping? While waitin' for the sun go down ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... on accountability Yea they're waitin' ... waitin' for the sun to go down ... Waitin' for abusers of power ... to sabotage our principles We've got freedom, but we're afraid to use it If we don't, we're just gonna lose it There is a solution: Let's stick to the Constitution Still they're waitin' Yea ... waitin' for the sun to go down ... Waitin' for the curtain to fall ... on our grand experiment Yea they're waitin' ... waitin' for the sun ... Waitin' for the sun to go down ... down on America

If You Don't Step Up (Purdum/Thompson/Mishler) Human goodness doesn't get very far The Dark Ages don't seem to far from where we are People fighting for their "sacred belief" People dying. No one giving relief Those that could help can only think of me, me Rather spend time wishing for a bigger SUV If you don't step up, do you think anybody else will? They're too busy seeking the next thrill We're all worried about the terrorists Do you ever wonder why it's come to this? We're not looking at the root cause If we did, it might give us pause People living in squalor and abject poverty Paradise is the only hope they see If you don't step up, do you think anybody else will? They're too busy seeking the next thrill For the triumph of ignorance and evil All that's required is good people sitting still If we really want freedom to ring We the people should stand up and sing No one makes a change if they don't try Those that don't have no business asking why If you don't step up, do you think anybody else will? They're too busy seeking the next thrill What kind of planet will we leave the kids? Will they be proud -- or ashamed of what we did? Will we choose war, greed, paranoia and hate? Or heed the preacher who gave his life on a torture stake? After all, it's really up to you and up to me We can choose freedom or national insecurity Yea, we must step up and have faith, knowing time will tell If we don't step up, there's no chance in -- well

How Long? 03:29
How Long? (Thompson) How long will we keep on fighting? How long must this war go on? How long will we keep on dying? How long must I sing this song? They said there'd be nothin' to it They said that it would be over soon They told us lots of pretty lies Wanna shoot them off too the moon How Long? How Long? (How long?) There's no way to call this vict'ry Ninety-thousand civilians gone This war was never supposed to happen Grim Reaper marches on There's really just one answer One way to make this horror stop Best never to have started Let's quit! Walk away! Let it drop! How Long? How Long? (How long?) (lead break) There's really just one answer One way to make this horror stop Best never to have started But now, walk away! Let it drop! How long will we keep on fighting? How long must this war go on? How long will we keep on dying? How long must I sing this song? How Long? How Long? (How long?)

Again 05:58
Again (Purdum) Life has been a long long task of searching My friend and I took different paths so long ago While all along the separate roads we were marching We'd sometimes wonder how the other is. And so Again we find ourselves together Wasn't looking for it but it feels so right And it seems this time we just might weather All the ups and downs of our real life There are moments in my past I'm not proud of Everyone has times like that or so it seems Moments when we've given up on true love When we decide to chalk it up to silly dreams But again we find ourselves together Wasn't looking for it but it feels so right And it seems this time we just might weather All the storms and sunshine of our real life And again we find ourselves together Wasn't looking for it but it feels so right And it seems this time we just might weather All the ups and downs of our real life Although it took forever just to get here The good news we've discovered is: we're wiser now The feelings that we both have bring us so near They get us through the times when we are far, somehow Till again we find ourselves together Wasn't looking for it but it feels so right And it seems this time we just might weather All the storms and sunshine of our real life

At the Zoo 03:01
At the Zoo (Tim Purdum) At the zoo You know we got your crocodiles Hyenas with magnificent smiles At the zoo Check out the tall giraffe Monkeys sure can make you laugh At the zoo Well there's every kind of animal That you would care to see The only thing that we can't find Is a tiny honeybee At the zoo Hawks come on very strong Doves just tryin' to get along At the zoo Bulls look like they'll charge you down And bears all wearing a frown At the zoo Well we poisoned their rivers Chopped down all their trees No more habitats Too much CO2 on the breeze At the zoo We'll protect you from pollution Construction zones and revolution At the zoo Three square meals without a fuss Is there room in there for all of us? At the zoo When we've used up all the oil And have too many mouths to feed Who will clean up our cage In our time of need? At the zoo You know we got your crocodiles Hyenas with magnificent smiles At the zoo Check out the tall giraffe Monkeys sure can make you laugh At the zoo

Feed Everyone (Mishler) Feed everyone From the mother's milk of human kindness Feed everyone How would you feel if you were down to your last dime? Feed everyone 30,000 children starve every day Feed everyone Will it be bombs or bread? Hey what do you say? Feed everyone Just imagine what John Lennon said: A world with no possessions Then dig as deeply as you can And bring this world a little heaven Feed everyone If you Love Buddha, Allah or Jehovah Feed everyone It's wrong when armies mow people over Feed everyone military-industrial crime shouldn't pay Feed everyone A billion people lack clean water, they say Feed everyone If someone points a gun at you, Fill the barrel with flowers Ask yourself what a savior would do, Then tap into that power Forgive someone If you got a bad deal and you're mad as can be Forgive someone Forgiveness brings healing to you and to me Forgive someone 27,000 atom bombs set to go Forgive someone If you love your kids more than you hate your foe Forgive someone What kind of fool would give a hoot If your hair is curly or straight? If your eyes are blue or dark as night? Or who you choose as your mate? Love everyone Even if they bring you great dismay Love everyone We got two ears to listen to what people say Love everyone Will one more explosion make things right? Love everyone Is violence a measure of real might? Love everyone Just imagine what John Lennon said: A world with no possessions Then dig as deeply as you can And bring this world a little heaven Feed everyone Forgive someone Love everyone Feed everyone

It's a Mystery (Purdum/Braly) Now is a time in my life when I've found someone Someone to care when the day is done One who when I'm with I have more fun Never want to let you go Don't you know? Can't understand this now because it's a mystery Scared to believe you might want to spend some time with me Over and over again I think it through Waiting till it's time to be with you Hoping I don't hear the other shoe Never want to let you go Don't you know? Can't understand this now because it's a mystery Scared to believe you might want to spend your time with me (lead break) Never want to let you go Don't you know? Can't understand this now because it's a mystery Scared to believe you might want to spend your life with me After a number of years living on my own It's good to know that I'm not alone You make me feel like I am at home Only want to let you know Don't let go Can't understand this now because it's a mystery Hard to believe you might want to spend your life with me The only thing I know for sure is how I feel right now That's why I'm trying hard to let you know somehow

Three Whole Days (Thompson) It's been three whole days since she left me Three days, since she let me be It's been three whole days. There's no cryin' There's no pain I'm so happy 'cause I'm free It's been three whole years since she left me Three whole years, since she let me be It's been three whole years. There's no cryin' There's no jeers I'm still happy 'cause I'm free It's been 30 odd years since she left me 30 odd years, since she let me be It's been 30 odd years. There's no cryin' There's no jeers I'm so happy 'cause I'm free I know you really have to go But I thought you might like to know You really didn't hurt me so I'm still happy as can be It's been 30 odd years since she left me 30 odd years, since she let me be It's been 30 odd years. There's no cryin' There's no jeers I'm so happy 'cause I'm free It's been 30 odd years since she left me 30 odd years, since she let me be It's been 30 odd years. (pause) There's no cryin' There's no jeers I'm so happy. I'm still happy I'm so happy 'cause I'm free

Tomorrow 03:59
Tomorrow (Purdum) What is this that I hear? You seem so very near But sometimes part of you is still so far Wish I could be where you are I've known you for a year, And some things are becoming clear You should know: I love you so Thanks for lettin the secrets go We can make it through tonight Havin' silly fun and feelin' right But sweetie you should really know We can have a tomorrow I know you had your reasons Over time and through the seasons I understand that life's been hard And you must be on your guard But I'm glad I've earned your trust I'll do whatever I must To show you what I say is true That I will never hurt you We can make it through tonight Havin' silly fun and feelin' right But sweetie you should really know We can have a tomorrow Saying things to you sometimes is hard for me So there are things I do to try and let you see All the things I ever say or do for you Are worth it for the times you say you love me too We can make it through tonight Havin' silly fun and feelin' right But sweetie you should really know We can have a tomorrow Because we make it through tonight Havin' silly fun and feelin' right We can prove it's not a show Let's go make our tomorrow

Tell Me What's Going On (Purdum) I know you're really busy That's all right with me But sometimes I get real dizzy, Wondering what it all means I want to be with you Why does it have to take so long? Why don't you just tell me what's going on? I give you all that I can give Then I give some more I've never even seen where you live Or knocked on your front door You tell me things will be all right But sometimes they feel wrong Why don't you just tell me what's going on? When I'm with you it seems to me That you mean every word you say But then my doubts start to appear When you are far away I want it all to be true Oh I want it to be real But how much longer must I wait To know how you really feel? No matter what I say or do It seems that I can't win I know things could be better If you let me in Open up, and share our lives Together we'd be strong Why don't you just tell me what's going ... I'd really like to know what's going on Why don't you just tell me what's going on? Now that we're really over I know it's gonna be hard I hope you find someone closer And this advice I'd impart Just open up, and share your life Together you could be strong Just be sure to tell him what's going ... You've really got to show what's going on Just be sure to tell him what's going on?

If the World Won't Rock (Purdum/Braly/Mishler) A few rich guys control supply Of everything we need But we don't have to keep these ties There's no use feeding the greed Lend the store on the corner a hand Forget that big name brand Hang the corporations out to dry Buy your stuff from the small guy If the world won't rock If the world won't roll If it feels wrong, stop! There's no point going down that road Global warming, now they say Is reality Fossil fuels aren't the way To keep us healthy and free Make a difference, even small: Drive a hybrid to the mall Or let big oil companies recoil: Run your car on cooking oil If the world won't rock If the world won't roll If it feels wrong, stop! There's no point going down that road Make a promise to yourself For everyone and you To create a better place In whatever you do Nobody is perfect, everyone is flawed There's still so much that we can do Just don't let the schemers play God And make all the decisions for you If the world won't rock If the world won't roll If it feels wrong, stop! There's no point going down that road

The Decider 04:22
The Decider (Braly) Decider, invaded Iraq Decider, can't turn back Decider, he's got no clue Now whaddaya gonna do? Decider, he's tappin' your phone Decider, fear is his name Decider, misled us to war Now who are ya gonna blame? He laughs and giggles like it's all a joke Doesn't care about the folks he smoked He talks to God but he doesn't listen All those dead boys, at the Bushman's door One-way ticket, he just wants more Made his bed with the Blackwater whore The auditors can't keep score Decider, he'll steal your vote Decider, got his dirty tricks Decider, and dirty Karl Rove Sick, sick politics He laughs and giggles like it's all a joke Doesn't care about the folks he smoked He talks to God but he doesn't listen Decider, spreadin' his poison Decider, killin' Mother Earth Decider, choppin' us down Put us in the dirt Decider, got his pals in oil Decider, greasin' their palms Decider, got his rich, rich friends And what they took is gone He laughs and giggles like it's all a joke Doesn't care about the folks he smoked He talks to God but he doesn't listen The Bushman, he got his story And the facts, they don't stand in his way Twistin' the truth, makin' it up it's a sad, sad, dark day Decider, he's killin' this country Decider, drive a stake through its heart Decider, burn it to the ground Split us all apart. He's a divider

Take It Back 06:16
Take It Back (Mishler/Thompson) White-haired men in thousand-dollar suits It's all top secret; they know better than you A half-million dead in a trillion-dollar war The clown prince in chief can't explain what it's for They talk up fear as circumstances require With terror alerts, they preach to the choir No-bid contracts smell awful funny It's war profiteering; say goodbye to your money (chorus 1) They've abused our troops and grabbed our loot Take it back They'll keep on looting till we give 'em the boot Take it back They stole our honor -- and blew it on war Take it back This land was your land; make it yours once more Take it back Take it back Take it back Bush was told bin Laden was "Determined to strike" Rice was warned in June; may as well go take a hike When tragedy struck, the president posed like a hero (Bush-like voice says, "The people who knocked down these buildings are going to hear from all of us.") We heard bull from his horn, blowin' smoke at ground zero (Broadcaster-type voice says, "Seven years later, bin laden remains at large.") (chorus 2) They've screwed the pooch and grabbed our loot Take it back They'll keep on looting till we give 'em the boot Take it back We had the world's compassion -- and blew it on war Take it back This land was your land; make it yours once more Take it back Take it back Take it back Troops maimed and killed by the orders of a fool He's never faced fire, but he's "Top Gun" cool "Mission Accomplished" on a Karl Rove banner Multitudes die but mind your pro-life manners (repeat chorus 1) Cheney said the insurgency was "in its last throes" Shows how much Mr. "Big Time" really knows There's no shared sacrifice when war gets hot The rich get tax cuts; now get out there and shop! (repeat chorus 2)

about

National Insecurity rips our government's bankrupt, unconstitutional policies and the endless Iraq war. "Waitin' for the Sun to Go Down," "How Long?" and "The Decider" are cautionary tales that are tempered by musical exhortations to do something to bring us to a brighter day: "At the Zoo," "If You Don't Step Up," "Feed Everyone," "If the World Won't Rock" and "Take It Back." "National Insecurity" is a folk-rock album that is current and timeless. The middle stretch of the album is just plain fun: beachy, folkie, country numbers to help you temporarily escape the oceans of red ink, blood and greed that are enveloping our once-great nation.
