Truth Decay
03:29
|
|||
Truth Decay (Ingenthron)
They’re suffering from truth decay.
Not letting the facts get in the way
You can tell where they’re coming from if you read between the lies
While suffering from truth decay
We gave them a job by marking on the line,
To do what we want and make it fine
Seems they’ve forgotten just what we say
They got a case of truth decay
They’re suffering from truth decay.
Not letting the facts get in the way
You can tell where they’re coming from if you read between the lies
While suffering from truth decay
They go a traveling all of the time,
Circling the globe on our dime
Doing almost anything thinking it’s ok
They got a case of truth decay
They’re suffering from truth decay.
Not letting the facts get in the way
You can tell where they’re coming from if you read between the lies
While suffering from truth decay
Cutting back or changing what we need these days
While giving themselves a big raise
We’re wondering if the bills will be covered by our pay
We’ve got a case of truth decay
They’re suffering from truth decay.
Not letting the facts get in the way
You can tell where they’re coming from if you read between the lies
While suffering from truth decay
Remember that we put them there and we can get them out
It’s time we took a stand and gave a shout
If they’re not doing what we want, they just can’t stay,
They got a case of truth decay
They’re suffering from truth decay.
Not letting the facts get in the way
You can tell where they’re coming from if you read between the lies
While suffering from truth decay

Do the Right Thing (Robert's Rule of Order). (Mishler)
You gotta do the right thing, no matter what people say
No matter the cost, no matter what's in the way
You gotta do the right thing, even when no one's lookin'
Coulda snatched the brass ring, slipped out the door and gone bookin'
In a world where wingnut crazies
Gaslight, endanger and rob
Though you’re scared, don’t be cowed by the mob
Be like my brotha, Bob
He'd do the right thing, even when it's hard
When you can't see the end; they say you'll never go far
You gotta do the right thing, even if it don't pay
No matter what the doubts, no matter how short the day
In a world where the good die young
And we seem to be yielding to disorder
Extend your spirit life a hundred years.
Follow honest Robert's rule of order
Just do the right thing
He did the right thing; did not look out for number one
He'd say guard all the daughters, as you guard all the sons
No matter how tough, you think you’re flippin’ your lid
When your so-called friends say, hey, “Those girls aren't your kids”
When your vision extends past the horizon.
No one else sees the truth that's hid
Keep on rockin’... rockin' the right thing.
The folks you love will be glad you did
Just do the right thing

Don't Wait
04:37
|
|||
Don’t Wait (Purdum/Long)
There are times when we can receive and there are others when we can give
There is value in each of us, so let’s live - like that’s true
How many times have you noticed the moments
That can give life meaning to you?
We’ve been told peace and truth will come, but we shouldn’t wait anymore
Let’s stand up, and step right on through the door
Don’t wait for someone to do what you could do
Just go out and do your thing now.
The arc of the universe is long, but to justice is where it bends
Doing good is not just a means to an end
Don’t wait for someone to do what you should do
Just go out and show people how.
Don’t get lost in a sea of despair. This is not a short-term struggle
Never be afraid to make some good trouble
Don’t wait for someone to do what you should do
Just go out and reach people now.

Divide and Conquer
02:43
|
|||
Divide and Conquer (Mishler/Ingenthron)
Speak truth to power. But know who the powerful are
It's not the mom and kids trek a thousand miles for asylum
It's not the ragged people sleepin' in a car
Some folks must have nodded off in Bible school
The day they taught the Golden Rule
To think lending a hand up to someone
Somehow takes somethin' away from you
Divide and conquer.
It's how the greedy rich win
In the land of equality and freedom.
Fear crowned a joker o-ur king
Picture the blessed at Sunday dinner
Bustin' belts across our bountiful land
With no thought that the food on our table
Was picked by underpaid, slandered hands
Don't look down on your destitute brother
For the grace of God I go there with you
Don't look down on your struggling sister
You've no idea what she's been through
Sign up and vote against the great dividers
Whose cruelty can only appall
Things get better reachin' out in the darkness
Not by throwin' up shoddy walls
Why would a working household
Vote for a deal that's so clearly unfair?
Still, America turns its lonely eyes
To a greedy clown with orange hair

Sheltered
03:32
|
|||
Sheltered (Ingenthron)
All alone setting here, so I find,
The only thing that's crowded is my mind.
Trying to make the best of all this time.
Knowing why it is I guess it's fine
With every step we take
With every move we make
With every turn that should be turned
Even though the silence here, it deafens me
What becomes of this, we'll wait and see
Casting a shadow on all the dreams
Postponing life, or so it seems
Waiting to catch up to run that mile
Undo the mask to show my smile
With every step we take
With every move we make
With every turn that should be turned
Even though the silence here, it deafens me
What becomes of this, we'll wait and see
These things affecting us, they seem unreal
Not sure I know just how to feel
With every day that passes, up goes my hope
Trying the best we can just to cope
Keeping our distance from all we know
Waiting for results to come and show
When we're free to move, we'll be glad
While we are sheltered from the bad
With every step we take
With every move we make
With every turn that should be turned
Even though the silence here, it deafens me
What becomes of this, we'll wait and see
What becomes of this, we'll wait and see

Fly Through Atlanta
02:38
|
|||
Fly Through Atlanta (Van Buren)
Out in the heat and dust. Out in the San Joaquin
I just hitchhiked from Bakersfield. The sun was hot and mean
I don't know why I left our home, or you in Tennessee
I only know if I could go, that's where I'd want to be
Stopped to see a preacher, to hear what he might tell
And as I stood there listening, these words I heard quite well
If you want to get to heaven, you must fly through Atlanta
And heaven is a girl in Tennessee
Hiked on in to Lodi and unslung my guitar
I had to play for dinner in another old dive bar
And as I stood there playing, these words came to my mind
I heard that preacher saying - I heard it one more time
If you want to get to heaven, you must fly through Atlanta
And heaven is a girl in Tennessee
If you want to get to heaven, you must fly through Atlanta
And heaven is a girl in Tennessee

Wuweiweh Stream (Mishler/Long)
Rollin' down the Wuweiweh River, thought I'd take my time
Barrelin' toward Wuweiweh Falls, just might change my mind
Wuweiweh Chincauc Indian goddess of streams
Sometimes things aren't exactly what they seem
Called on the Navajo Rug by the council, tribal elder powwow
I said I'd make her happy. They laughed and asked me how, HOW?
Wuweiweh Chincauc Indian goddess of streams
Sometimes things aren't exactly what they seem
Always thought I'd live a life that was free and loose
Now I'm grinnin' ear to ear with mariposa and papoose
Wuweiweh Chincauc Indian goddess of streams
Sometimes things aren't exactly what they seem

Alexander's Waltz
03:20
|
|||
Alexander’s Waltz (Purdum)
Listen to Alexander’s cry
Ringing across the sound
Calling to people far and wide
Gathering them all around
What do you think that he does say?
What is it we do hear?
Laughter and fun and joy and play
Or uncertainty, doubt, and fear?
Whatever it is we cannot know
So I made up this rhyme
He’ll go everywhere that we do go
Revealing himself in time
So, listen to Alexander’s song
Comforting him this day
Happy that we can sing along
As he shows us the way
Look at how Alexander's grown
Every day more and more
Learning to use things on his own
Figuring out what they're for
I want to know what Alex knows
It's quite a mystery
But I can tell from what he shows
Some of what it might be
What it really is we cannot know
So I made up this rhyme
He’ll go everywhere that we do go
Revealing himself in time
So, listen to Alexander’s song
Comforting him this day
Happy that we can sing along
As he shows us the way
Whatever he says, we cannot know
So I made up this rhyme
He’ll go everywhere that we do go
Revealing himself in time
So, listen to Alexander’s song
Comforting him this day
Happy that we can sing along
As he shows us the way

Brown Bag Bottle of Wine

Brown Bag Bottle of Wine (McNamara/Kelley)
In a 3-way conversation, with no conference call
Hank and the Moon Maids was havin' a laugh
Talkin’ ‘bout nothing at all
Hank told the Moon Maids he broke all the rules
After our gig last Friday night
Walking with Alyssa in upscale PA
With a brown bag bottle of wine
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Walking with Alyssa in upscale PA
With a brown bag bottle of wine
In that 3-way conversation,
Hank friend Shelley left without a word
Power to a redhead with her own brown bag
Her silence was all Hank heard
Her silence was all Hank heard
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Walking with Alyssa in upscale PA
With a brown bag bottle of wine
Later parked in front of Lupe's house
Hank and Alyssa say enjoying that wine
Later got a laugh when they realized
The CHP was parked right behind
The CHP was parked right behind
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Walking with Alyssa in upscale PA
With a brown bag bottle of wine
Now, we’re not sure if the this story is true
Because we heard it after a drink or two (or 3 or 4)
Well heck, we’re not even sure of the time
‘Cause the Moon Maids love their wine
And they always drank some mighty cheap wine
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Walking with Alyssa in upscale PA
With a brown bag bottle of wine
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Brown bag bottle of wine.
Walking with Alyssa in upscale PA
With a brown bag bottle of wine
And it gets cheaper all the time

We'll Meet by the River (Mishler/Rose)
And we'll meet ... meet ... meet ... me Down by the river
In that Chevy van on blocks that I call home
And we'll meet ... meet ... meet ... me Down by the river
From that rusty bucket of bolts I'll never roam
We'll I lost my job, I lost my home, I lost my wife and mind
I didn't know how I would get through life
But I have fund nirvana by that rollin' lazy stream
Free of all worry work and strife
And we'll meet ... meet ... meet ... me Down by the river
In that Chevy van on blocks that I call home
And we'll meet ... meet ... meet ... me Down by the river
From that rusty bucket of bolts I'll never roam
We'll I got no tweets, I got no cell, I got no Instagram
To write me, you best try the U.S. Mail
Ain't even got a telephone line that runs on land
For me, just walk that secret hobo trail
And we'll meet ... meet ... meet ... me Down by the river
In that Chevy van on blocks that I call home
And we'll meet ... meet ... meet ... me Down by the river
From that rusty bucket of bolts I'll never roam
From that rusty bucket of bolts I'll never roam
Meet me in a van by the river O yea!

Changing My Life
04:24
|
|||
Changing My Life (Ingenthron)
Seems I've been around a time or two
Been there and done it. Now I'm through
It's been a long time coming. I think it's done
At an end, I've had my run
They say it's all your choice. I guess that's so
I can only tell myself it's time to go
Not knowing what's in store, or what's to come
Changing everything that I've known
I thought it out. I thought it through. I thought I had a plan
Will I know what to do with an empty hand?
Can I change my days and make them fit the hours I have now?
Changing my life. Will I know how?
Well it's all done now. This I see
It's really all I've known. You can say it's been me
I'll reinvent the person that I am
Moving on, starting life again.
I thought it out. I thought it through. I thought I had a plan
Will I know what to do with an empty hand?
Can I change my days and make them fit the hours I have now?
Changing my life. Will I know how?
I thought it out. I thought it through. I thought I had a plan
Will I know what to do with an empty hand?
Can I change my days and make them fit the hours I have now?
Changing my life. Will I know how?
Changing my life. Will I know how?

Serenity Song

|

Serenity Song (Reinhold Niebuhr/Mishler)
God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I know I cannot change.
And God, grant me the courage
To change the things I can, to make amends and turn the page.
And God, grant me the wisdom
To know the difference -- between the two.
And when, not if, I lack that wisdom
Grant me the humility to take it in prayer to you.
And when, not if, I lack that wisdom
Grant me the humility to take it in prayer to you.
Grant me the humility to take it in prayer to you.
To face that book and take it in prayer to you.

No Such Thing As a Bad Day (Shaun Hinebaugh/Purdum)
When I was just a young boy, my daddy said to me
Come over here by me son, and he sat me on his knee
He said you know that I been real sick and I know I don't have long.
But there's something I gotta tell you now son please don't get me wrong.
There ain't no such thing as a bad day.
Though you might feel it in a sad way
Though you may feel a little down,
There's still time to turn around
And though you may try to live for tomorrow,
Tomorrow might not come anyway
So no matter what you may lose,
You know you've always got today
There ain't no such thing as a bad day.
He said I know that life is full of pain and I know it ain't always fair
And I know there's a lotta bad people and a lotta bad things out there
But don't let it get you down son. No don't let it bother you
Cuz here's a little piece of wisdom that'll help to get you through
There ain't no such thing as a bad day.
Though you might feel it in a sad way
Though you may feel a little down,
There's still time to turn around
And though you may try to live for tomorrow,
Tomorrow might not come anyway
So no matter what you may lose,
You know you've always got today
There ain't no such thing as a bad day.
You may get fed up like you've had enough,
Feel like your whole life is in tatters
Feel beat down, pushed around and torn apart and shattered
Well the good Lord gave you life today and son I tell you that its true
That's really all that you can ask for, cuz all the rest is up to you
There ain't no such thing as a bad day.
Though you might feel it in a sad way
Though you may feel a little down,
There's still time to turn around
And though you may try to live for tomorrow,
Tomorrow might not come anyway
So no matter what you may lose,
You know you've always got today
There ain't no such thing as a bad day.

Here to Stay
02:34
|

Here to Stay (Ingenthron)
You know that I'm out there. I'm wandering town to town
Here today, tomorrow not around
By the time you get to know me, you will realize
When a lonesome whistle blows, I'll be gone
And I don't know why I say goodbye
When I hate to see you cry
But they'll come a day when I'll come your way
And I'll be yours and here to stay
I've had this restless feeling since I don't know when
The grass is always greener over there
But when I get to going I don't know when to stop
The road is always calling my name
And I don't know why I say goodbye
When I hate to see you cry
But they'll come a day when I'll come your way
And I'll be yours and here to stay
Well, it seems that I don't get it, know just what I got
I jump and run when the walls start closing in
I always find my way to you, a loving place to land
Until I get the itch to move along
And I don't know why I say goodbye
When I hate to see you cry
But they'll come a day when I'll come your way
I'll be yours and here to stay
And I'll be yours and here to stay

Letter to Me (Van Buren)
I wrote myself a letter
Put it in the mail
Told me all the reasons
Why I oughta stay here
It told me 'bout a lady
With long blonde golden hair
Told me how I loved her
And that I oughta stay here
I set out on that highway
Down to the bright blue sea
Signed on board a clipper ship
That took me away from thee
That clipper ship it took me
To all the seven seas
I thought no more about you
Till that letter got back to me
Now as I read that letter
I knew where I should be
I hope you will forgive me
'Cause I'm coming back you see
I wrote myself a letter
Put it in the mail
Told me all the reasons
Why I oughta stay here.

Will the Water Go?
02:49
|
|||
Will the Water Go? (Ingenthron)
Well it seems that we have all been treading water
Trying to keep our head above the storm
Waiting for a rescue to come save us
Knowing that our lives have now been torn
We wonder just why this had to happen
Could they have done something more?
Make it right and hope the pain will lessen
Give us all the faith to restore
Why have we been brought this misfortune?
We fight the battle now and hope to win
Is there any light in the tunnel?
Will the water go and life begin again?
We hold our breath. They're shoring up the levy
Going back to see just what remains
What will we do if there is really nothing?
Do we have the strength enough to start again?
Why have we been brought this misfortune?
We fight the battle now and hope to win
Is there any light in the tunnel?
Will the water go and life begin again?
Will the water go and life begin again?

Kids in Cages

Kids in Cages (Brant Clinard/Purdum)
Taking kids from parents, it made our country great
If they came illegally, in cages kids did stay
Looking for a better life, here in the USA
Doesn’t matter why you came, in cages you did stay
The journey might be long and hard across the Rio Grande
If your color wasn’t white, in cages you did stand
A mother’s love has no bounds to find a better way
But in the land of the free, in cages they did stay
Children’s tears fell silent. We heard their desperate cries
Caged up like animals. We were these kids’ allies
Other forces make it clear. You might say, dictate it
“We don’t want you here,” so in cages you should sit
How could the right be so wrong? How could they close their eyes
To the concentration camps where the children cried?
They have ears, why can’t they hear wailing families torn apart.
How can they be on the fence? No empathy in their hearts.
Lady Liberty stands so tall. A beacon to us all.
But we must face that some of us would lock kids up in stalls.
We need to stand for something good called “The American Way”
And welcome kids with open arms, inviting them to stay
Rise up America unafraid and lift your voices high
We must change our evil ways, embrace all kids,
And show the way, a cage won’t be their stay!
Taking kids from parents, it made our country great
If they came illegally, in cages kids did stay

Today Tomorrow Eternally (Ingenthron)
I can't see me living my life without you
After all this time, you're a part of me
If I had to live without you
I don't know what would become of me
Ever since the day I met you
I knew that I could only see
Spending the rest of my time beside you
Guess that's just the way it had to be
After all the life we've been through
I just can't be me without you
So we'll keep walking this road together
Today, Tomorrow for Eternity
Here we are growing old together
Looking back now, who could tell
Just how well we could stand the weather
And just how much I love you still
After all the life we've been through
I just can't be me without you
So we'll keep walking this road together
Today, Tomorrow for Eternity
So we'll keep walking this road together
Today, Tomorrow for Eternity

Potter's Field (Mishler)
Bury me in Potter's Field, with the people who were real
Dug the ditches, pushed the plow. Cleaned the houses, found out how
How the world works. 'Neath the iron fist of greed
Dominators, exploiting human need
Bury me in Potter's Field, with the heroes who were real
Dropped the hammer, turned the wrench. Shot in jungle, gassed in trench
Learned the hard way. How badly chosen battles go
Gluttons of war, as patriots they pose
Bury me in Potter's Field, with the people who were real
Nursed the patients had the kids. Lost it all and hit the skids
In a sad place. Where options have run out
Among the nameless cruel fate scattered about
Bury me in Potter's Field ...

The Wire Meets the Wood (Ingenthron)
When the music is all that really matters
Playing, singing, making people smile
They sing along. Wow, that really flatters
It makes the world slow down just a while
You write a song and say the words inside you
Hoping that it comes across just right
Well, I'll sing it now and hope the feelings come through
Maybe someday they'll see the light
And I sing these songs just hoping that you like them
When the music's right and it sounds just like it should
Here now playing on this old guitar
It sounds so good when the wire meets the wood
Well I'm very glad you came to join me
It's so much better when you come along
Yeah, we're picking and a singing for all the world to see
Hey, listen to them singing my song
Yeah, and I sing these songs just hoping that you like them
When the music's right and it sounds just like it should
Here now playing on this old guitar
It sounds so good when the wire meets the wood
And I sing these songs just hoping that you like them
When the music's right and it sounds just like it should
Here now playing on this old guitar
It sounds so good when the wire meets the wood
Here in Northern California, where the wire meets the wood
